Mission

The Community School is a private non-sectarian co-educational day school serving 30 students in grades 6 to 12. Our students are bright, highly motivated young people from 15 towns in central New Hampshire and western Maine.

We believe learning is a rigorous and joyful pursuit which calls on each individual's talents and interests, and promotes appreciation of the interconnectedness of people and places. At The Community School, our mission is to support students on their individual learning paths within a caring and respectful community.

Volunteer Opportunities

Not only do we enjoy getting to know people from our community when they share their time and talents with us, but we think that you will find yourself caught up in the energy of The Community School.  If you’re interested in spending time with a group of inquisitive young people, consider volunteering in one of the following capacities:

  • Teaching a stewardship class meeting Fridays from 1:30-3:15 for two months in:  music, poetry, yoga, dance, art, crafts, cooking, theater, religion, etc.  November-December, March-April, or May-June.
  • Snow shoveling (pathways and roofs)
  • Taking on some maintenance work:  hanging a door, building shelves, painting, weatherstripping, small repairs
  • Garden work during the growing season
